Support
Spousal support was once a tricky issue, with vigorous and often personal arguments on both sides. The new Spousal Support Guidelines are coming in acceptance and have simplified the negotiations considerably. The Spousal Support Guidelines take into consideration the income of the parties, the length of the relationship and provide a range of support and the duration of the obligation. Long term relationships where one party is financially dependant on the other generally result in long term spousal support.
Spousal support is a tax deduction to the payor, and taxable income to the recipient.
